Thorough Examination & Certification
Regular Thorough Examinations, i.e LOLER 98 inspections are essential to the safe working and operation of your access platforms (cherry pickers, boom lifts, scissor lifts, MEWP’s).
Current Government legislation states that the employer or owner must be responsible for any lifting equipment on site, and is legally obliged to maintain it in a safe working condition for the use of their employees.
LOLER explained
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 98 (LOLER) states that...’all equipment must be thoroughly examined by a competent person at least every 6 months or more frequently if used in a hostile environment'. The Report of Thorough Examination must be kept on file and readily available when requested.
In many ways this is like a car MOT, only it’s required every 6 months instead of yearly and must comply with LOLER inspection regulatory requirements. You can download the HSE guide to LOLER here, or browse our Health & Safety section for further details.
Is LOLER still boggling the mind? Then don’t worry, just contact our service support team who are on hand to explain the regulations and your responsibilities as a lift owner/user.
Meeting your Health & Safety obligations
Our team can help your business comply with the above regulations, and more importantly keep your platforms safe!

A full visual, operational and mechanical examination in accordance with LOLER 98 will be carried out by highly experienced engineers. The engineer’s Report of Thorough Examination will be issued if the equipment meets with all the relevant criteria.
